In addition to NaFRA2, the EA is set to update the Flood Map for Planning on 25th March 2025. This will incorporate the latest NaFRA2 data, providing planners and developers with:
- Updated flood zones reflecting risks from surface water alongside river and coastal flooding.
- Climate change impact projections to help future-proof developments.
- New functionality allowing users to switch flood defences on and off to assess risk levels in different scenarios.
It’s important to note that the Flood Map for Planning represents land as if no defences were in place. This precautionary approach ensures that decision-makers remain aware of potential risks even in areas with significant flood defences, such as Hull and Central London.
